How the foundation began
The BraveWave Foundation is a nonprofit founded by Kiani Abrums, a competitive swimmer and American Red Cross certified lifeguard. While at a Many Mansions summer camp in Ventura County, she found that most of the children could not pass a basic water-proficiency test. Many had never received swimming instruction.
She founded the foundation to provide free swimming and water safety lessons to underprivileged children in Ventura County, at pools sponsored by Many Mansions. The purpose is to give every child the chance to learn essential skills and be safe in the water, regardless of financial circumstances.
